Weekend’s Frustration of a Sports Fan at home

I know that title of this post is boring but you can’t do anything if your teams gets defeated¬†thrice in a single weekend. Last weekend was really one of them. I stayed at home to watch all the actions in Football, Formula-1 and our game of life(cricket) but that didn’t help my teams. We lost in all three of these ūüė¶ ūüė¶ .

First, I was hoping to watch our blues in full strength against West Ham¬†on Saturday evening. We had good game by possession but to be honest we were looking dull.We could have¬†played better football than this. Hard to¬†see any co-ordination between our midfielders, defenders and strikers. We played with 10 players and without our managers (who was not near the line). We had a goal which was off-side. I won’t be surprised if Mourinho get sacked if things will remain same in next 2-3 matches. It has been 10 matches and we have just 11 points(this is worst than David Moyes). As a true fan of blues, I still have faith in our team we need to bring positive attitude. We need consistency in our game. Full credit to West Ham, at 4 in points table, for their energetic performance.

Second, Formula-1 had ¬†a busy Sunday after long time. Qualifying and race were in the same day and this was not easy for the teams as well as for the drivers to manage. I watched the qualifying but not the full race. After good qualifying results from my two favourite teams- Ferrari and Force India, I was expecting to win in this raining condition. But Kimi retired due to overheating of the break. I wonder what happened to Kimi after coming back to Ferrari. I don’t see that natural driving skills he used to possessed. He has the killer instinct but off course not the fastest car but every time i expect something from him but at the end it becomes zero. Any ways, It was good to see our champ(Vettel) on podium and at least one driver from force india(Perez) in Top 10. Vijay Mallya must be a happy man after this race. I don’t talk much about hamilton because i am not a big fan of him but yeah, congrats to him for becoming 3rd time world champion.

Third, Cricket is my the favourite game. I play it and i used to follow it a lot but not since Sachin and Dravid left the game. But nevertheless, If it is a match of India then you don’t want to miss especially final match of a series. Sunday started well for me and after nice breakfast i sat in front of TV to watch this crucial match. I was not concentrating until all the fire works started. As soon as ABD came on the pitch and shown the quality of batting whole stadium started cheering for “ABD”, “ABD”. I was wondering on where is the magic of our “MSD”. I have a soft corner of south africans. They played really well. We bowled very poor and also missed 3 catches which could have been deciding factor. Even though pitch was looking good to bat but we didn’t even care to chase the humungous target. All the players except Rahane were thinking to hit the ball hard and not to play sensibly. In the end, we lost the game and whole Sunday went in to this. Congrats to South Africa for winning the series. Hoping that we will come back strong in the test series. Cheers.!!

An era of Formula-1 ended after Ayrton senna turned his william’s stearing at¬†Tamburello corner¬†on 1st May, 1994 during San marino Grand prix. It was an¬†irreparable moment for Formula-1 fraternity.

I was 7 and that was 7th lap of San Marino Grand prix of 1994, when this happened. I would have no clue at that time even if i knew Formula-1 at that time. But, At 26, when i read about schumi’s skiing accident. I realized how it would be tough for a fan to loose such a real life Hero. After i started following F1, I thought watching future games will be great but i realized one day that i missed great drivers since then i watched so many drivers and other famous races and i came through a legend driver whose soul will remain in every Formula-1 fan.

According to Senna, “I believe in the power of concentration. You focus on something and you end up being able to get more out of it. I used this ability my whole life. I have always considered it a matter of improvement”.¬†

I tried to sketch moments of aryton senna in an intractive timeline on his remembrance day. Click here.

I would like to pay tribute to one of the greatest drivers in F1 through this post. If you have any comments feel free to use comment box.

What’s new about 2014 season of F1 ?

Hope you all are waiting for new season of formula-1 very eagerly. After all, the season of uncertainty is here. After a decade, F1 is going to accept such a big change in technology or you can say an overall new car. A new race in Sochi and no Indian grand prix this time. But i am very much disappointed that there will be no Indian Grand Prix this year. I hope next year it will resume as usual. I was part of all Indian Grand Prix.

Few days are remaining before a brand new  season of Formula-1 will kick off. 2014 season has been termed by several experts and F1 avid fans as a complete different Motor sports experience. So far, It looks like because teams were struggling to complete their testing laps in Jarez & Bahrain. This is going to be very interesting.

For Now, Forgot about these things and let’s have a look of all new car from 11 teams who would be competing for championship.

Engine & its PowerР 1.6-litre  V6 turbo engines will be used in 2014. This new engine will generate 150bhp less power than V8 engines but this power will be some what compensated by 2 additional power from Energy Recovery System(ERS-K & ERS-H). These extra boost will have power up to 160bhp.

More power demand from the engine has also increased cooling demands hence sidepods will be little wider in F1 car of 2014.

Gearbox Changes  РFIA has introduced EIGHT-SPEED, Fixed ratio gearboxes.

GearBox_ForceIndia_Learnomics

In 2013, Team had to select 30 gear ratios ahead of the season and had choice of using any of those 7 at a Grand Prix.

In 2014, There would be one extra gear but these 8 gears need to be selected before the first race of the season and then same ratio have to be used at all the tracks. Now, team are allowed to change the ratio only once after that penalties will be applicable.

Fuel Rule Change РFIA has came up with this fuel efficiency concept which will help Formula-1 not only but also other motor racing events. Fro 2014, The fuel usage has been restricted to 100kg untill last year it was unlimited. But the cars in 2013 took almost 150kg of fuels to complete the race. Now drivers and engineers need to focus on fuel save strategy to win the battle.

Minimum weight  Change РOn formula-1 Car , Every gram has performance effect and that worries a lot to every team engineers. To compensate for the increased weight of the 2014 power units  minimum weight has been increased from the current 642kg to 690kg.

Exhaust Р The 2014 regulations mandate the use of a single tailpipe which must be angled upwards to prevent the exhaust flow being used for aerodynamic effect.

Nose height РFor safety reasons the height of noses has been reduced for 2014. The maximum height is 185mm (previously it was 550mm).

Front wing Рfront wings will be a little narrower from 2014 with the width reduced from 1800mm to 1650mm.

Rear wing Рthe rear wing also looks a little different for 2014. The previously-legal lower beam wing has been outlawed and the main flap has become slightly shallower in profile. Support pillars, however, are allowed. The DRS slot is also bigger than in 2013.

Double Points Rule  РDouble drivers’ and constructors’ points will be awarded at the final race of the Formula One season РAbu Dhabi for 2014 Рin order to maximize focus on the championship until the end of the campaign.

Driver numbers¬†– Drivers will be asked to choose their race number, between 2 and 99, for the duration of their career in the FIA Formula One World Championship. Number 1 will be reserved for the current world champion, should he choose to use it. If more than one driver chooses the same number, priority will be given to the driver who finished highest in the previous year‚Äôs championship. The driver number must be clearly visible on the front of the car and on the driver’s crash helmet.

Additional Friday practice drivers Рwe are used to seeing teams replace one of their race drivers with a test driver for opening practice on a Friday. However, from 2014 teams are able to run up to four drivers Рthough still only two cars Рin either Friday session.

New penalties РRace stewards will have the option to hand out five-second penalties for minor infringements. Additionally, any driver who earns 12 penalty points on their superlicence during a 12-month period will be given a one-race ban.

Pole position trophy РA new trophy can be added by a driver in their Trophy cabinet. Formula-1 management team has introduced a new trophy to the driver who will have the highest pole position through out the season.

Note- The rule changes information has been taken from Formula1.com.

Faith of Kimi’s Fan !!

Kimi Raikkonen

Why do you love a Formula-1 driver ? and when do you feel that you actually miss him ?I started following ‘iceman’ ¬†from his first race at Mclaren and as it is well know proverb that “First impression is the last impression”. I still have the same impression about him. I missed him a lot when he left F-1 during 2010-11. During that time i just watched F1 and enjoyed the thrill.

At the end of 2011 season rumor started taking on toll that Kimi will join Formula-1 with new team and it was Lotus who got this privileged. During his absence a new champion emerged in F-1 who was gaining lots of love from new generation of formula-1 fan. Vettel, undisputed king of formula-1 has become double world champion and broke many records before kimi joined Lotus team. Kimi enjoyed amazing two years of sucess with Lotus team and now in 2013 he is moving back with Red-horse team. Let’s see how does journey of Kimi Raikkonen look like.
