Super Frankie Lampard

Watching Super Frankie in Blue jersey, since I started following Chelsea club, has always been a delight. I was in tears when Frankie scored against us during fall of the 2014-15 season. And It was no surprise for the world when he got a standing ovation from home supporter.  As I wrote my experience couple of years ago on Learnomics-

The famous No. 8 from England and one of the most successful midfielders of his generation has called out to hang up his boots yesterday. It was not happy moments for fans when he decided to leave the club in 2014 after Spending 13 years with Chelsea. Every time he scored, I celebrated like a crazy Chelsea fan and especially scoring against Barcelona in 2006  and Champions League match against Napoli in 2012. He always played it calmly on the field and was one of the most active players on the pitch during the game.

Lampard earned all the respect and trophies with Blues but has always been an underrated player in the world arena. His ability to play in midfield was amazing. He played in central position, attacking midfielder as well as a defensive midfielder. He and Drogba have been us so many moments to Chelsea fan that we would never forget. Even though he scored against Chelsea, I never thought of any bad thing about Frankie because he has given so many glorious moments to us that are unforgettable.

Watch the  Frank Lampard-

As he walks out of the pitch, I would be very happy to see him in the dressing room of Chelsea with young kids or with the senior team. All the best to Super Frank. More to Come here. Keep Reading.!!

Weekend’s Frustration of a Sports Fan at home

I know that title of this post is boring but you can’t do anything if your teams gets defeated thrice in a single weekend. Last weekend was really one of them. I stayed at home to watch all the actions in Football, Formula-1 and our game of life(cricket) but that didn’t help my teams. We lost in all three of these 😦 😦 .

First, I was hoping to watch our blues in full strength against West Ham on Saturday evening. We had good game by possession but to be honest we were looking dull.We could have played better football than this. Hard to see any co-ordination between our midfielders, defenders and strikers. We played with 10 players and without our managers (who was not near the line). We had a goal which was off-side. I won’t be surprised if Mourinho get sacked if things will remain same in next 2-3 matches. It has been 10 matches and we have just 11 points(this is worst than David Moyes). As a true fan of blues, I still have faith in our team we need to bring positive attitude. We need consistency in our game. Full credit to West Ham, at 4 in points table, for their energetic performance.

Second, Formula-1 had  a busy Sunday after long time. Qualifying and race were in the same day and this was not easy for the teams as well as for the drivers to manage. I watched the qualifying but not the full race. After good qualifying results from my two favourite teams- Ferrari and Force India, I was expecting to win in this raining condition. But Kimi retired due to overheating of the break. I wonder what happened to Kimi after coming back to Ferrari. I don’t see that natural driving skills he used to possessed. He has the killer instinct but off course not the fastest car but every time i expect something from him but at the end it becomes zero. Any ways, It was good to see our champ(Vettel) on podium and at least one driver from force india(Perez) in Top 10. Vijay Mallya must be a happy man after this race. I don’t talk much about hamilton because i am not a big fan of him but yeah, congrats to him for becoming 3rd time world champion.

Third, Cricket is my the favourite game. I play it and i used to follow it a lot but not since Sachin and Dravid left the game. But nevertheless, If it is a match of India then you don’t want to miss especially final match of a series. Sunday started well for me and after nice breakfast i sat in front of TV to watch this crucial match. I was not concentrating until all the fire works started. As soon as ABD came on the pitch and shown the quality of batting whole stadium started cheering for “ABD”, “ABD”. I was wondering on where is the magic of our “MSD”. I have a soft corner of south africans. They played really well. We bowled very poor and also missed 3 catches which could have been deciding factor. Even though pitch was looking good to bat but we didn’t even care to chase the humungous target. All the players except Rahane were thinking to hit the ball hard and not to play sensibly. In the end, we lost the game and whole Sunday went in to this. Congrats to South Africa for winning the series. Hoping that we will come back strong in the test series. Cheers.!!

Return of Mourinho’s Era in English Football

Ever Since Jose Mourinho left England during fall of 2006, there were so many people believed that he will come back to Chelsea someday and that moment came after 7 years when the “Special One” arrived at Stamford Bridge. Fans of Chelsea FC loved that moment and I was too excited to see the new Mourinho, a mature manager after spending 6 years in two different leagues and winning lot of trophies. I had the same faith on Mourinho again when he joined the team almost 9 years back.

His Last innings was special due to the trophies we won but lot of pundits said that it was the power of money due to which Chelsea was winning. I agree with them but partially. The reason is that the fact was the club needed an overhaul change of ownership, team and management were part of it. Chelsea FC went through lots of ups and down before Roman Abrahmovich bought the club and it took 9 years to become a profitable venture for him. It wasn’t just money but also the player who went and won the accolades and reached to a greater height. We have seen players like Michael Ballack, Crespo, Robben, Ashley Cole, William Gallas, Frank Lampard, Drogba, Malouda, Essien, Joe Cole, John Terry, Peter Cech and so many others who played with Chelsea’s crest on their Chest.

In my opinion 2014-15 season was one of perfect seasons for blues since Mourinho left the club. After having 2 years of trophy draught in his career, Mourinho needed some marquee signing to ensure we would never slip at the corner the way things went wrong last year. Cesc fabregas and Diago Costa were the perfect signing for blues and their combination created lot of opportunities and easy wins during first couple of months. We haven’t lost to our title rival and maintained at the top throughout the season.

I think Loosing against PSG was the only low moments for the blues and wrapping up the title before 3 matches to go clearly shows the dominance of this Chelsea side in English football.

I wish Mourinho and blues all the best in future and I would definitely like to visit the Stamford Bridge someday.!!

Lampard Returns against the Blues

It was a bit difficult game for both of the teams on the last weekend. Especially, Manchester city who were trailing 5 points over the blues. I settled myself at my friend’s place to watch this big game. Before this game started, while switching between channels on TV, I did get some time to watch Manchester United’s match and I, seriously(I am not kidding), could have beaten this united team in FIFA video game playing with world class level. I am sure all my friends who support Manchester united will never mind as they should agree on the fact that Manchester United played one of the worst game of the season.

Ok.So, the game started and Chelsea started defending attacks from Manchester city. City was keep pushing toward Chelsea’s half all the time with more than 70% of possessions with in 20 mins and 3 corners. But blue’s rock solid defense did very well. When second half started, we started getting good possessions and made some good chances. City went down to 10 men when zabaleta was shown red card to foul against costa and we didn’t waste time to take lead by fabulous display of pass among costa, hazard and then schurlle.

I was thinking that we will win it easily because we were now more defensive rather than attacking (costa did miss once during this tough time). Meanwhile, I was cooking pulav and heard from commentator that frank Lampard has been substituted then suddenly I came in front of TV to watch the reception. It was grand. It was warm. Indeed, a well-deserved reception for our remarkable Number 8 in the History. It was bit odd to see one of the players to play against the team you love and the played you loved. Yeah, I never had such moments. While watching cricket, I don’t think it will matter that for which team Sachin will play, it’s like I will support Sachin whichever team he will join. But, i tell you what, football is not that simple. It is crazy game and its passion.

So, the moment was not far which i couldn’t have dreamt. Lamps scored against us with superb flick and nobody can believe this. It was very emotional. I can’t express anything about the moment he scored. I would say just let it go. Lamps is a great player and we all love him but can’t hate him just a goal against us. He has given more than just a goal. Lamps will be remarkable always.
